Continue Holiday Style Customer Service
by Tom Egelhoff
Well the holidays are over. The decorations are coming down and it's time to return to business as usual. And that the mistake most retailers and others make each year. We pull out all the stops during the holiday season. We want our stores to look the best and our employees to take extra time with customers as they make those last minute selections.
Instead of carrying that holiday spirit into the new year there seems to be an over whelming urge to breath a sigh of relief that it's all over for another year.
As a customer do you expect holiday style service during the rest of the year. No coffee or Christmas cookies in stores on January 3 is there? Nope that's all gone. Clerks can return to mediocre service on January 3 can't they?
Why not shake everyone up a little and keep the Christmas shopping feeling alive in your store? Your customers will see the difference and be pleasantly surprised and will pass the word. Try keeping Christmas decorations up until Valentines Day. Extend the buying season. Give it a shot, you might be surprised at the results.
