Getting Your Name In Print For Free
by Tom Egelhoff
My father always told me, "Make sure you're right then go ahead." Make a stand and stand your ground. Express your opinion.
One of the most entertaining aspects of small town life is the letters to the editor section in the local newspaper. Sooner or later you will hear every conceivable side to any argument. It's the last place on earth the common man or woman can be heard.
What does this have to do with your business? Writing letters to the editor is an excellent way to place your company name where people will see it. Respond to articles in the paper offering your business experience as a conformation of your opinion or message. You are perceived as an expert in the field.
Make your letter newsworthy and non-threatening. For example, you might not want to make a stand to abolish the death penalty just because you sell electric chairs. You don't want to be controversial you want to be informative. Enlighten the readers, don't enflame them. So, what are you waiting for? See you in the papers.
