The book is downloaded to your desktop in compressed form. If you do not have a decompression program, (you will need one sooner or later) , follow the instructions below to download one.

Easy To Load Decompression Programs For IBM, Macintosh Or DOS

You will actually receive 4 computer formats of the book in the download. They all contain the same information. The formats are: 1.) Microsoft Word Version, book.doc, 2.) Text Only Version, book.txt, 3.) "Rich Text Format" Version, book.rtf, and 4.) Adobe PDF (Portable Document File) Version, book.pdf.

The files are zipped (compressed) for faster transport over the internet.

The quick and easy download of a decompression program is to go to Stuffit and download their Expander that works with Windows, Macintosh or DOS. When the site opens, select Windows, Macintosh or DOS and follow their instructions.

For PC Downloads (IBM, Gateway, Dell, etc.)

The files will be zipped (compressed) for faster transport over the internet. Windows users will need a copy of "Winzip" to unzip the files for reading. (Except Adobe PDF files this will be covered next.)

If you do not have Winzip on your computer, do the following:

1.) Go to http://www.shareware.com
2.) When the shareware page opens, type winzip in the "search for" box.
3.) Click the Search button.
4.) You will see three or four versions of Winzip. Pick the one that matches your computer system, (Win 95, Win 98, Win 3.1 etc.) click on it and follow the instructions given.
5.) When Winzip has been loaded on your computer, open it, select one of the book files (not the pdf version) and click "open". Winzip will unzip the book and you can open it in your word processing program. (MSWord, WordPerfect and others)

If the above is not successful use the PDF File. Adobe has developed a document converter that works with a reader program that can be downloaded free from their website. With this reader you will be able to view the book with all formatting and fonts in tact. Many sites are going to this format because they can create more detailed pages than html language allows.

If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader, open it, go to the book folder and click on the book ending in".pdf". The book will open with correct formatting and fonts regardless of the system used. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader (you will need this sooner or later) do the following:

1.) Go to http://www.adobe.com
2.) Click on the Get Acrobat Reader graphic.
3.) Go to the bottom of the page and do the three step download process.
4. Once Acrobat Reader is loaded on your computer, open it select the PDF version of the book and click open. The book will open in original format just like the bookstore version.

For Macintosh Downloads

You will receive 4 computer formats of the book in the download. They all contain the same information. The formats are: 1.) Microsoft Word Version, 2.) A Text Only Version, 3.) A "Rich Text Format" Version, (for Claris Works) and 4.) Adobe PDF (Portable Document File) Version.

The files will be zipped (compressed) for faster transport over the internet. You will need a copy of "Stuff-It" to unzip the files for reading. (Except Adobe PDF files this will be covered next.)

If you do not have Stuff-It on your computer, do the following:

1.) Go to http://www.shareware.com
2.) When the shareware page opens, type stuffit in the "search for" box.
3.) Select Macintosh at the platform in the pull down menu.
4.) Click the Search button.
5.) Click on the Stuffit download and follow instructions.
6.) When Stuff-It has been loaded on your computer, open it, select one of the book files (not the pdf version) and click "open". Stuff-It will decompress the book and you can then open it in your word processing program. (MSWord, ClarisWorks and others)

If the above is not successful use the PDF File. Adobe has developed a document converter that works with a reader program that can be downloaded free from their website. With this reader you will be able to view the book with all formatting and fonts in tact. Many sites are going to this format because they can create more detailed pages than html language allows.
